Consultation & Pre-Care
- We usually ask you to reach out to your family doctor before we proceed. Your family doctor is your first person of contact who will review your medical history and properly diagnose toenail fungus and to rule out any other conditions.
- During our thorough assessment we will plan the treatment that suits your needs.
Procedure
- Once you get started, the number of treatments depends on various factors, including how long you’ve had the toenail fungus and a type of toenail fungus.
- Clip nails prior to coming in the laser treatment.
Follow Up & AfterCare
- Depending on the severity of your toenail fungus, we may also recommend that you combine laser treatment with antifungal medication.
- It’s imperative that these medications are non-photosensitizing and that you are prescribed and monitored by your physician.
How should I perform toenail care?
Every week soak feet in lukewarm salt water, then scrub the feet and clip/ file toenails carefully every 2-3 weeks as needed.
When can I start seeing results?
- The treatment results may be SLOW but being CONSISTENT with treatment is the key!
- Individual results may vary with each treatment
Is toenail fungus contagious?
- Yes, toenail fungus tends to grow on toenails more than fingernails for this specific reason.
- Toenails are very slow growing and therefore, are more susceptible to fungal infections.
Can I put nail polish on my infected nail?
- No, putting nail polish on is just a band aid cover up
- It will conceal the infection, hindering diagnosis by doctors.
- Regular polish, containing harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, can exacerbate the fungal condition.
- Opt for anti-fungal nail lacquers instead.
What is the most effective way of treating nail fungus?
- At our clinic we combine our laser and collaborate with your family doctor to give you the most effective and efficient results.
- We also provide post care instructions.
